Deep Autumn, We Celebrate the Harvest with This Feast

Now that Fall is in full swing, as the harvest season in a year ago, decades ago, or even before, people looks busier than usual. They walk around in the streets, shopping to find the best deals on gifts and fresh ingredients, and plan to celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year by sitting around and sharing food with family and friends.

In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is the fourth Thursday in November. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people. The American holiday is particularly rich in legend and symbolism, and the traditional fare of the Thanksgiving meal typically includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. Speaking of which, Thanksgiving meal starts inching closer to our mouths.

As the countryside became more urban and families began to live farther afield, Thanksgiving became a feast to be together. However, since the global spread of the COVID-19 in 2019, everyone’s life has been full of uncertainty. When people want to visit relatives on Turkey Day, they should also consider how serious COVID-19 is.

However, there’s always a way to feel the warmth of thanksgiving.
